One of the most important aspects of capturing the attention of trade show and convention attendees is standing out from those around you. Of course everybody else is also trying to stand out, so you may need to put some special effort into your planning if you really want to wow the crowds.
You can start by making your booth look as professional and planned as possible, and one of the best ways to do that is to use custom-printed banners and displays to claim your space.
Once you have made your space uniquely yours by putting up banners with your company name and logo, it’s time to think about promotional items!
Free items branded with your company logo and website is a great way to increase your brand’s reach at trade shows and conferences. There is something extremely appealing about free stuff that will make people notice you, so make sure you have something to give out as free gifts or as part of a promotion.
Take some care in selecting what you will hand out as not all swag is created equal. In order to get the highest mindshare among attendees at the conference or trade show you must offer them something that is special, unique, and most of all, useful.
Offering a larger item as part of a special giveaway will also be sure to earn you plenty of attention, but be sure to have smaller or less expensive items to give out as people enter your draw.
Consider handing out t-shirts instead of smaller items and requesting recipients wear them while at the conference! Personalizing popular items such as hats, pens, or reusable shopping with your company’s logo will keep your company at the top of their mind.
Another option is virtual swag, which is becoming more popular. Free downloads of music or applications or early release of an upcoming app to attendees can be an effective way of attracting early adopters and getting word out.
Smaller items are generally better for this type of event. Consider how many other companies are trying to win over the same potential customers and you will soon see that they could be carrying a fair amount of swag by the time they come see you!
Make your items small, handy, and immediately useful in order to ensure they’re something attendees will hold on to. Travel accessories or consumables like shampoo, shaving essentials, soaps, and lotions can be a terrific boon for those who left home in a hurry but may not make as big of an impact on other attendees so consider your audience wisely.
Finally, when possible, choose an item that is somehow related to your business! Keeping your content related will ensure that by passers of your booth will remember who you are and, more importantly, what you do!
