Key Elements for a Successful Trade Show Booth

Jan 8th, 2014

Trade Show BoothHow many times have you been to a trade show, only to get lost in a sea of booths that all start to look the same after awhile? Creating a successful booth is an art form in itself and can be quite hard to master even for the most experienced trade show exhibitors. Your display should want to draw people in, as opposed to overwhelm with products and services. There are several key elements for a successful trade show booth, and we’ll show you how to master these techniques with a few simple tips!

Opt for a smaller space

This tip is particularly useful for those who are engaging in their first trade show experience. Convention booth spaces come in various sizes. So when you’re signing up, don’t immediately rush for the biggest one. Choose one of the smaller options so that you can focus all your resources into making this space the best one possible. You don’t want potential clients drowning in a clutter of products. Or worse yet, drifting past a booth that can’t be filled because your new company haven’t yet established its inventory.

As your company grows and you participate in more shows, you’ll start to get a sense of what works for you and what doesn’t. So remember: When it comes to booth success, bigger is not necessarily better.

Make your message clear

Don’t confuse customers with signage that is too wordy or cryptic. Although it may come off as “intellectual” or “witty”, customers will naturally walk away if it takes them too long to understand what it is you’re selling. The attention span is pretty short when it comes to trade show clientele.   With hundreds of other vendors on the same convention floor, you want to hook customers as fast as possible. The best way to do this is by making your message clear and easy to understand.

Scope out the competition

Get an idea of which company booths will be located around you ahead of time. If your booth will be close to another one offering similar products and services, scope out the competing firm’s website to see where you may be lacking. It’s also a smart idea to know where your booth is in relation to the building’s entranceways and how much traffic that area generates.

Opt for professionally-provided materials

Although it may seem much cheaper to make your own displays and signage, it is always better to hire the services of a professional. Even if you’re a natural artist with a keen eye for colour, customers can immediately spot the difference between a homemade display and one that’s been constructed by industry experts. Set aside some money for booth hardware, tabletop pieces and banner systems. At Club Ink, we’re experts in designing captivating trade show displays that are sure to be a hit with customers.
